Immediate Results 

Dermal filler result can be seen immediately post treatment. However, final result may take 2-4 weeks. It takes some time for the product to integrate with your own tissue. The the result will look even more natural.

Dermal filler injections contain hyaluronic acid (HA) – a naturally occurring substance in our body that stabilises structure, attracts and binds water, and improves elasticity. By putting fillers mimic to our natural anatomy, it can create support, structure, restore lost volume and to some extent, stimulates skin cell renewal.

Common facial areas which are treated with dermal filler for rejuvenation or beautification are cheeks, lips, chin, jawline, temples and tear troughs as well as the neck lines, décolletage and hands.

Avoid blood-thinning and anti-inflammatory medication (e.g. aspirin ibuprofen, fish oil, and St John’s wort) one week prior treatment. 

Advise your clinician if you:

• Are on anti-biotics 
• Pregnant or breast feeding 
• Are taking blood thinners
• Using ibuprofen
• Have an auto-immune condition
• Having long flight planned in the next 2 weeks

Prior to your first treatment, our doctor or nurse will consult with you to assess your suitability for dermal filler and discuss any concerns or questions you may have. A scripted with be obtained. 

The procedure involves well disinfected treating areas, sometimes numbing gel may be used to minimise the pain. Needles or cannula maybe used for putting product in the treated area with careful anatomy and aesthetic consideration. 

Dermal fillers for may last between 6 and 24 months depending on the product chosen and areas are treated, and individual's metabolism rate. 

The most common side effects include swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness. For bruising and swelling sometimes it can take 5-7 days to settle, this often happens to lip fillers as lips are a very vascular area. 

Client can take some arnica tablet or use arnica cream to help with swelling and bruising. A complimentary follow-up appointment 2-4 weeks post-treatment is offered to check the result and if top up treatment may be needed in order to reach your aesthetic goal.  

Anyone who:

• Is hypersensitive or allergic to to ingredients including hyaluronic acid, lidocaine, amide-type local anaesthetics and strep type-A gram-positive bacterial proteins 
• Currently has an active skin infection, cold sores, sunburn, eczema, psoriasis or a healing wound
• Currently has concurrent febrile status (e.g. flu, cold, sinusitis, UTI)
• Has had major dental work in the past four weeks, or scheduled in the next four weeks
• Has a history of hypertrophic scarring
• Is pregnant or breastfeeding
• Is under 18 years of age
• Has had a rhinoplasty lately. In this instance, the client will need written authorisation from their treating surgeon

There are the common risks comes with injections such as pain, bruising and swelling, sometimes infection. The rare but important risks include vascular occlusion, nodules and blindness. These are obviously very serious risks, however very rare.

If occlusion or nodules occurs, Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyalase injection- a form is enzyme.  Clients are to notice their practitioner as soon as they notice any growing pain, skin discoloration, and any signs of vessel occlusion. 

After your appointment

• Ice pack can be used in the first 6 hours to help reduce any swelling or discomfort
• Panadol can be taken for pain management 
• Arnica tablet and cream can be taken or used to reduce swelling or bruising 
• Avoid excessive activity or bending forward for prolonged periods for at least 24 hours
• If possible, refrain from applying makeup near the injection sites for 24 hours 
• Staying hydrated and protecting your skin from the sun can help to prolong the results of your dermal fillers
